In short
Gumb is an app for water rescue and lifeguards. Watch leaders plan the lifeguard duties of the bathing season as recurring events, lifeguards respond by the response deadline, and posts such as the tower or the boat become tasks right on the event. Pool training, drills and the youth group go into the same calendar, and attendance can be exported as an Excel file. Gumb is not an emergency alerting app and does not replace alerting.
From chat chaos to a full watch roster
What costs watch leaders time during the bathing season, and how Gumb fixes it.
Without Gumb: For every weekend at the lake you ask around one by one who takes a watch.
With Gumb: The season's watches are recurring events in the calendar. Lifeguards say yes, and you spot open gaps early.
Without Gumb: Who sits on the tower and who drives the boat is only settled at the station.
With Gumb: Posts such as tower, boat or beach patrol become tasks on the event. Everyone sees who takes on what.
Without Gumb: When a watch is called off for a thunderstorm, not everyone finds out.
With Gumb: You switch the event to “Canceled”. It stays visible, and a push notification goes out if you want.
Without Gumb: In winter you count pool training attendance by hand.
With Gumb: You export training attendance as an Excel file, with pool training and watches kept apart.

We use this system in our aid organisation and at work. We are very happy with it, as we had been looking for a working and reliable system for a long time. The app offers many options, including staff and equipment management, and above all makes our work easier. Simply recommendable. A clear 5-star rating
I manage my Jungwacht youth group with this app. It works excellently. Everything clearly in one place! Even the CEO (Dominik) personally takes time to talk to you and asks for suggestions for improvement
The very best app for planning our club, congratulations

FAQ: the app for water rescue
Does Gumb replace alerting in an emergency on the water?
No. Gumb is not an emergency alerting app and does not replace alerting. Gumb organizes everything that can be planned: watches, training, drills and the youth group.
How do I plan the watches for the whole bathing season?
When you create the event, choose “Repeat Event” and set the pattern, for example weekly. With a response deadline you know in time which days are not covered yet.
How do I hand out tower, boat and beach patrol?
Create the posts once as tasks and turn them on for the watches. Lifeguards sign up themselves, or admins assign them. In the scheduler everyone sees who takes on what.
What happens when a watch is called off for a thunderstorm?
Switch the event to an event type such as “Canceled” instead of deleting it. That way it stays visible, even for members who missed the push notification. After you edit it, Gumb asks whether a notification should be sent.
Can I analyze watches and training separately?
Yes. With your own event types you keep watches, training and drills apart. Under Statistics you export the attendance report as an Excel file, filtered by period, event type and group.
Can several stations plan separately?
Yes. Every station gets its own group with its own group scheduler. Lifeguards who serve at several stations belong to several groups and see all their events in one place.
How do parents respond for their child's youth training?
Every child has their own account with their own email address. Parents log in with the same credentials and respond to the training. Admins can create children's accounts upfront, and a family login is in the works.
Who can edit the watch roster?
Admins see and manage every event. Watch leaders get the group leader role and schedule the events of their station. Lifeguards respond and sign up for posts.
